Candy Corn is a Vegetable

Today I just have a fun little card that I made for my brother who loves to find ways of "not" eating his vegetables.  Yes, it's not something that you "will grow out of".  He is a full grown man and still avoids his "greens".
I found some small envelopes at a "free store" at the recycling center in our city.  So I thought that I'd make a postcard to put in it.  I found the fun candy paper and sentiment at TLC.  I just love it when I see something and imediately know what I want to do with it.  I hope it makes him smile.

Orange You Thankful

Sorry about the corny title for this post.  Can you tell I have kids?  I have created this card for the Designed 2 Delight Saturday Designer Challenge - "Pumpkins".  I wanted to incorporate this lovely label into a card, since I've nothing to actually put the label on at the moment.  So here is what I've come up with.  I embossed the dark orange base with my cuttlebug folder and my trusty rolling pin.  ( A cuttlebug machine is on my "love to have" list.)  I then layered some fun polka dots and ribbon together with a great orange button.  To top it off I popped up the sweet pumpkin label with the sentiment stamped on it.  I added an eyelet and some extra ribbon to finish off the label.  Thanks for dropping by.
I am also entering this card in Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Use fall colours challenge
Supplies:
Stamps: D2D- Pumkin Label; Sentiment -clear stamp from Fiskars.
Ink:  Ink Pen from Dollar Store
Papers:  Stampin'Up and misc cardstock.
Accessories:  misc button, misc orange ribbon; crochet ribbon from Stampin' Up

Fall is in the Air

Here is the second half of that wonderful Fall is in the Air set.  Even though all of the leaves are off of our trees here in the Yukon, I just love fall leaves!  I coloured her with my prismacolours and also sponged some ink around her as well. I love fall cranberries so I added her to some cranberry cardstock with red rhinestones.  I added her to a lovely leaf pile and printed out the same sentiment that I used for the boy card.  As the snow is starting to cover over the ground and trees here, I still love to remember the vibrant colours of fall.
I am entering this card in Digi My World's Challenge: - It's Fall  They have wonderful digi's and great challenges so I invite you all to come and join in. Also Stampin' Sisters in Christ - Use fall colours
Supplies:
Stamps: Digi My World- Fall is in the Air (girl)
Papers:  misc leaf paper; Stampin' Up cardstock

Accessories:  red rhinestones- Glitterazzi

Leaves are Falling

I just won this great fall digi over at Digi My World and it came as a pair with a little girl in a set called Fall is in the Air.  That card is coming up next.  I coloured him with prismacolours and sponged some brown ink around him to soften the image.  When my boys play in the leaves, the dirt flies also. LOL  With them anything can become airborne.  The sentiment was computer generated.  I was inspired to write that since my children love the song - Leaves are falling to the ground, to the ground, to the ground. Leaves are falling to the ground, It is Fall!  They sing this song and twirl around like leaves in the wind.
I am entering this card in Digi My World's Challenge:- It's Fall

Stamps:  Digi My World- Fall is in the Air(boy)
Papers:  misc patterned and textured papers; Stampin' Up card base
Ink:  Ink it Up -chocolate brown

Seeing Dots

Today I have some dots for Jen's Digi Stamps Challenge -show us your Polka Dots.  Today the snow is falling and so I can relate to this wonderful digi.  Warm enough to go without a coat, but still needing your boots.  Yesterday the kids and I were out catching snowflakes with our tongues! Such a wonderful moment when you feel a snowflake land and melt on your tongue! Such a fun memory with the kids.
I added a bit of sparkle to the snowflakes and the green distressed border.  When the sun catches the frost for the first time in the morning, it's like a world of diamonds.
Supplies:
Stamps:  Jens Digi Stamps: snow girl freebie
Papers:  Stampin' Up and New Seasons
Tools: Decorative Sissors - Rocky Mountain
Accessories:  Orange and Green Braiding Cord; Green Button; Twinkles Writer- silver

New Home

Today I have a card that I've made for a new family that we've met who just moved to town.  I found this wonderful home at Broken Box Stock.  (They have so many amazing stamps there, be sure to go check it out!)  I coloured the image with pencil crayons and baby oil, then matted it on some Stampin' Up cardstock and distressed the edges.  I layered it on some great papers from New Seasons.  I added a sparkly green ribbon and tied it in a bow!  For a finishing touch, I added a computer generated sentiment. I hope they feel welcome.   I am entering this card in Scrapbook Sisters - Anything goes challenge.

It Comes With The Season

Today my family is under the weather.  It seems that at each change in the seasons we all get a lovely cold!  I created this card with two challenges in mind.  One is the Designed 2 Delight freebie challenge from which this beautiful tree digi is from! and then the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge to use Time.
I have been wanting to use this beautiful leaf paper that I bought at a garage sale and thought now was the time.  Paired with a couple of blocks from an old calender I thought it was a nice backdrop for the lovely tree.  The cute sentiment I snagged from the wonderful TLC free sentiments - Here.  I pray you all don't get this lovely bug that has us buying lots of Kleenex and sipping gallons of tea!
Supplies:
Stamps: Designed 2 Delight-tree; TLC sentiment
Papers: Stampin'Up cardstock; misc patterned paper; pieces of an old calender
Ink:  Tim Holtz distress ink- old paper
Accessories:  Little stitched buttons

Stuffed Hearts

Today I have a card that I've created for the MelJen's Challenge - to use Red and Gold.  I have been pondering on how to bring this all together for a few days.  Then after I discovered some gold braided cord in my sewing box, it just came together all at once.  I used Stampin' Up red cardstock as my base and some lovely patterned paper from ATD for the background.  I distressed the outside edge just to add a finishing touch. Then I added the sentiment from MelJen's Designs, matted to some red cardstock and added three pearls that I coloured with my metallic gold marker (I also added a few more gold dots).  I took apart the gold cord, then used three strands separately- tied around the cardstock base.  I then stuffed my hearts into place - secured with pop-up glue dots.  The whole base is then adhered to the card with glue dots (due to the coil being there).  It was a fun card for me, and challenged me to try something new.

Folded Dorthy

Hello, I'd like to share my first folded card with you today.  I've never gone away from the traditional before so this was really fun for me!  I was challenged by Sentimetal Sundays to make a card with folds in it.  This is what I've come up with.

I just love how my folded Dorthy card came together.  I coloured the sweet Dorthy image by Stretch N' Bubbles with coloured pencils and baby oil.  Then matted her on two colours of cardstock.  I used some lovely papers from ATD, fun ribbon from Multicraft Imports, and three glittered flowers from Forever in Time's Floral Embellishments.  I cut the card out so that the fold opens to the side instead of the middle so it would showcase the lovely ribbon tie on the inside of the one fold.  For the sentiment ( From TLC), I decided to make it the focal point of the inside instead of leaving room to write.  I glued the sentiment on some pink cardstock, inked the edges a bit with my pink Color Box ink pad, then distressed the cardstock edges.  I left the whole left inside space for personal notes.  Once everything was in place on the card, I attatched my "Dorthy" to the card with some Fiskars pop up glue dots so she fit nicely over the ribbon.
( Someone asked me how I distressed and to tell you the truth it's so easy.  A wonderful crafty designer I know showed me how to just scratch the edge of the paper with my finger nail.  Well, I started to get a cramp right away - yes pathetic I know- so I reached for the first straight edge I could find.  My scissors- so I just scrap away at the edge of the paper with my scissors until I like the look of it. )

Green Baby

This is the fourth of my posts for today, please scroll down to see the other baby cards I've made.
Finally my number 4.  I chose to use the cute giraffe again by MelJen's designs, but this time I coloured him and cut him out before matting him on some patterned paper.  I used the same hello sentiment stamp by Fiskars and inked it in green.  I used a new layout that I've seen a few times and thought it was perfect for this card.  I added some strips of green ribbon and attached some fun buttons on it.  Very simple really, but he looks so classy in his green tie!
I am entering this card in:
MelJen's challenge - to use ribbon
Supplies:
Stamps:  MelJen's sweet giraffe; clear rubber hello stamp from Fiskars
Papers:  Stampin' Up
Accessories:  green ribbon, green buttons

Orange Baby

Now we have t#3 baby card.  I chose orange, and it can be used for either a boy or a girl. (even with the flowers)  I used a MelJen's giraffe - so cute with his little tie!  I used two pieces of ribbon, two buttons, two shapes, two patterned papers and two stamps for this card.  It was a lot of fun to create!
I am entering this card in:
MelJen's challenge - to use ribbon
Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge - to use two of everything
Supplies:
Stamps:  MelJen's giraffe; clear hello stamp by Fiskars
Papers:  Stampin' Up
Accessories:  Gift ribbon; orange buttons

Blue Baby

Here is my #2 baby card.  I chose to do a blue version of the MelJen's donkey image.  I coloured it and then also added some colour under him like a shadow.  I matted it on some cardstock and distressed the edges.  I used two different papers and some lovely blue ribbon.  I made two fun ties instead of bows and since I had only two blue buttons this shade I thought they'd go nice with it.  To top it off I added the sentiment from DDH with blue rhinestones in the corners.
I'm entering this card in:
MelJen's challenge - to use ribbon
Stampin' Sisters in Christ - everything doubled/ two of everything
Supplies:
Stamps:  MelJen's sweet donkey; DDH Hello Seasons set
Papers:  Stampin' Up patterned paper; misc cardstock
Accessories:  Ribbon from Modern@Home; blue buttons, blue rhinestones

Pink Baby

Today I have a series of 4 posts that I've done.  Each with a different baby card.  Since I don't know the gender of my friends babies, I thought I'd make enough that I'll have it covered!

For my first baby card I have decided to go pink.  I chose a MelJen's image- baby donkey and the sentiment is DDH from the Hello Seasons set.  I cut around the image with decorative scissors and added some paper piercing.  I chose to use the daisy paper from Stampin' Up since I love pink and white girly things.  I added a white lacy bow and the cute little foot paper clip.  (the clip was a gift from a friend of mine who knows I love those little cutsie things.)  The little pink hearts were the perfect touch since I have a special place for babies in my heart!
I will be entering this card in MelJen's Challenge - Use Ribbon
Supplies:
Stamp:  MelJen's donkey and DDH hello seasons sentiment
Papers: Stampin'Up patterned; Misc. cardstock.
Tools:  Decorative scissors; paper piercer
Accessories:  White Ribbon; foot paper clip; heart buttons

Pumpkin Thanks

Today is another beautiful fall day.  Our snow is almost melted, and most of the leaves have now fallen off of our front tree.  Time to go and finish raking them up.  Today I have a card that I've created for the challenge over at Designed 2 Delight.  There were three different freebie stamps to choose from but this one was just begging to be coloured first.  I have so much to be thankful for in my life, and such wonderful friends that I thought the "Thanks" sentiment was perfect for this card.
I coloured the image with my pencil crayons, then to add a bit of softness to the outside of the label  I sponged some ink, cut it out and put it on some cardstock.  I layered the leaves paper between some distressing (since fall leaves are often crumpled) then I added rhinestones to the corners to set off the image.  Last I tied some ribbon to the back of the metal button, punched a couple of holes in the cardstock and tied the button onto the card with some braiding cord.
I'm also entering this card in For Fun Challenges - Pumpkins - no face
Supplies:
Stamps:  Pumpkin Label- Designed 2 Delight; Thanks- rubber stamp from Stampcraft
Ink:  Ink It Up - Chocolate Brown
Papers:  Misc cardstock and some leaf pattened paper from my stash
Accessories:  Old metal button, Gold ribbon by Modern@Home, Elmers braiding cord, brown rhinestones

Hello Snow!

Hello everyone, today is my first winter post.  It's inspired by the fact that it has started snowing here in the Yukon.
First we got a dusting of snow, just enough to get the kids excited, and then.....It really hit and is still coming down!
It's still snowing but is melting at the same time- sure is wet!  More is in the forecast!
So here is what I was inspired to create.  I took a digi from DDH's Bunch of Flakes set along with the sentiment from DDH's Hello Season's set.  I layered them on some fun blue papers and added some glitter to the snowflakes and the dark blue frame.  My kids love to investigate each snowflake to discover what makes them unique.  I added the bow because it was airy like snow falling and it reminds me of the pompoms on the kids's winter hats.
Supplies:
Stamps:  Digi Stamps from DDH Bunch of Flakes and Hello Season's sets
Papers:  ATD patterned papers and misc cardstock
Tools:  snowflake punch
Accessories:  Ribbon and DecoArt Twinkles Writer - silver

Sweet Thing!

Today I have a card that I've made for Digi My World's challenge - Candy.  They have a free image set you can use, (I have used three different ones from their set - there's more) but you can use any one of their images as long as it's sweet!  I coloured the candy in the colours of my favorite hard candy!  Then I layered them on cardstock.  The patterned paper is from ATD and I loved the kalidoscope look to it.  I added some cotton candyish ribbon and the sentiment is computer generated.  With a bit of distressing, it was a fun card to make.  I'm also entering this card in The Stamping Boutique's challenge - for someone special.  I have made this card with a special little someone in mind! Plus in Stamping Sisters in Christ   challenge - anything goes.

Happy Autumn

This is my second post today so please scroll down to see the previous post.  I have created this card for the For Fun Challenge Blog.  The challenge is anything with leaves.  I am awaiting the last of the leaves to fall of our trees so I can rake.  I am praying the snow holds off until I can get this done (It's on the tops of the mountains around us).  I just love leaves, and the sound they make as you walk through them and as the wind whisks them along the driveway.  I chose this wonderful digi from Di's Digi Downloads and coupled it with a great sentiment (from which the leaves are a part) from Michelle Perkett's Studio (and it's free).  The dots on the paper inspired me to add some paper piercing for a border around the image and a slight touch to the sentiment.  The little bear is so adorable he just makes the card smile!
I'm also going to enter this card in One Crazy Stamper's challenge -halloween or fall
Supplies:
Stamps:  Teddy Pumpkin- Di's Digi Downloads; Sentiment from Michelle Perkett's Studio
Papers:  Patterned -Stampin'Up; Misc cardstock and handmade feather paper.
Tools:  Paper Piercer
Accessories:  Gems from Glitterazzi

Friends in the Garden

Hello Everyone!  Sorry I haven't posted anything for a bit.  A young man crashed his motorbike outside our home on Monday afternoon. We did all that we could do as we awaited paramedics.  He died yesterday in hospital.  Our family has been deeply touched by all of this.

Today I have a card that I've made for the Cutie Pie Challenge Blog .  I have chosen their bingo lines- Glitter/2Patterned Papers/ Flowers and Glitter/Lilac/ Ribbon or Lace.  I was feeling very girly when I created this card.  I think it shows.  I coloured the label, cut it out and layered it on some patterned paper. Then I added some glitter to the center of the flower.   I popped it up on a few layers with pop-up glue dots with the ribbon running behind it.  I added four little flowers I cut from some flower ribbon and added a pearl to each of their centers and a couple larger pearls to the label.  I hope you enjoy it, and do hop over to their blog to see all the other wonderful cards in the challenge.

Supplies:
Stamps:  Flower Label- Platypus Creek Digitals
Papers:  ATD purple flower paper; misc glittery scratched looking patterned paper(I don't know if that counts?)
Accessories:  Pearls- Chrystal Stickers/Mark Richards; Deco Art Twinkles Writer-silver; Fiscars pop-up glue dots; Ribbon by Multicraft Imports and the little flowers are from a Modern@Home flower ribbon

Jumping in the Leaves

Today I have another fall card to share with you.  This image of a girl jumping in the leaves from Broken Box Stock (a freebie!) to me is so joyful.  It is so much fun to rake a big pile of leaves together and then take turns jumping in and throwing them into the air!  It is so worth the work it entails.  For me with all my children, their sheer delight sparkling in their eyes makes it all worthwhile! It doesn't matter how old you are, you should at least send a few of your own leaves soaring into the fall winds.
I had fun distressing the edges and I added just a hint of sponged ink to around her legs just because of falling debree!  I also created a fringe on the ribbon to kinda make it look like the ends of a scarf.  You do need one with the chilly bite in the air!  Also to note, I used Prismacolor Pencil crayons to colour the image and then I used baby oil and blending sticks to finish it off.
I am entering this card in:
Designed 2 Delight's saturday challenge - use coloured pencil.
The Stamping Boutique's Changing of Seasons challenge - summer to fall
The Scrapbook Sisters - Leaves
Supplies:
Stamp:  Digi image Jumping in the leaves girl - Broken Box Stock and sentiment from DDH hello seasons set.
Papers:  Stampin' Up and misc cardstock
Ink: Ink It Up - chocolate brown
Accessories:  Ribbon by So-Facile

Mouse Memories

Hello!  Today I have a card that I've made for the MelJen's Challenge.  It is to use a circle and a square in the same card.  I don't have any sympathy cards so I thought this would be a good card for that.  I love this little dandilion mouse by MelJen's designs and it has always been a memory maker for me when I blow the seeds off to begin anew somewhere else.  I know that most people hate dandilions, but they are still beautiful to me and a picture of strength!  Plus who can resist blowing dandilions fuzzies into the wind?   I added some sparkle to the dandilion and sponged some brown ink around the image to soften the white.  I used a scallop circle template from About.com for behind the image.  The sentiment is one from Dee's Designs that I loved.  I think it's just perfect for a sympanthy.  I just recieved Gina K's paper piercing templates in the mail this week and I was wanting to try them out.  They work great!
Supplies:
Stamps:  MelJen's Dandilion Mouse, and sentiment from Dee's Designs, flourishes by See~d's
Ink: Time Crafts - Black, Ink it Up- chocolate brown
Papers: ATD embossed, Stampin' Up colored cardstock, Autumn Leaf white cardstock
Accessories:  DecoArt Twinkes Writer - Silver
