Mountain Exploration

Hello!  I'd like to share with you today a little trip that I took with my children and some friends into the Yukon mountains close to our home.  

It was a cloudy day for the most part, but the colour was so beautiful in the trees and the water. 

A little road by the lake.  A sweet little rock beach that we will try swimming at when it warms up a bit more.

The boys threw sticks into the water and watched as the gentle waves brought them back to shore. 

A view from one of the bridges.  The water is a bit low this year, but it's still very fast moving. 

A little ice is still in the ditches along the roadside further up.  

This is by the one campsite that we want to try out as well.  Such a wonderful thing to sit beside the river and listen.  

There are many places that are interesting to explore along the river side. 

The water is so pretty with it's green hue.  Much of the water in the Yukon is this colour. 

Finally here was a dainty little purple blossom tucked into the gravel in the parking lot.  

It's so very nice to have time out in God's creation, and to be able to take the time to notice the details.

Lacy Shade

Hello!  Nice to have you drop by!  I've been quiet lately on here... spending lots of time outside and with my family.  

With spring comes lots of yard work, and re-adjusting things from inside to outside.  Now all my plants are outside save for a few more seedlings I started late.  

With the longer days the heat coming through this window by my desk was just getting to be a bit much.  SO I went through my stash of fabric and found two lace curtains that would fit the window size.  I pulled out a stick and then some of the non-marking hangers.  I put up a second curtain along the same wall in the living room and now it evens out things.  

A little hard to see the curtain, but it does shade the room nicely from the hot sun.  

Now the light is nicely filtered and not so harsh.  Plus it does put a pretty pattern on things it shines on now.  

I love the pattern of this lace.

It's nice to have something soft and lovely by my desk. :)  

I planted some Malva late and it's coming up in a pretty bowl that I have sitting on the bottom of the curtain.  It's getting bigger by the day and will be planted out soon.  It's supposed to be a great flower for bees and butterflies.

A Girl Needs an Apron

Hi!  Thanks for dropping by.  I'd like to share with you an apron that I made for a special young lady who is graduating this year.  

I think that every young lady needs a pretty apron of their own.  

Something to not only protect the clothing, but also to feel pretty doing things around the house.  

I tried to make it without too many frills but still a touch of lace I thought looked right.  

Then I added a doily as well.  

It was a beautiful evening when I took the pictures of the apron, and my daughter also caught this sweet sliver of the moon as the sun was heading towards sunset.  

Here in the Yukon at this time of year we don't see any stars and it doesn't really even get dark.  

Praying you are also enjoying the sweet days of warmth and sunlight where ever you live.

Odds and Ends of My Days

Hello!  I know I've been quiet a bit lately.  I find that there are so many little things that are keeping my occupied.  Lots of gardening and finishing up of lessons for the school year.  

My oldest graduated and a dear friend took some fun grad pictures for her.

It's nice to cherish these kinds of moments with photos.

I finally got to planting my garden.  I always soak my peas before putting them in the ground.  I love how the little air bubbles look on the peas. :)  

The leaves have taken so long to come out this spring.  It's been very cold, and I figure if they don't want to come out, then I had better wait with the other plants as well.  

The leaves have been growing bigger every day and the grass has finally started to green up nicely.  We've had a thunderstorm this week and that really helped things along. 

I treated myself to a sweet little tea infuser since one of mine broke.  I love the little tea cup that keeps the end from being pulled into the tea pot. 

I put out my plate border around my perennial bed.  There are delphiniums, and Shasta Daisies in there.  Oh, and a pretty fern weed that has pretty yellow flowers so I let it grow. ~smiles~

I love the smell of the fresh leaves when the sun is warm upon them.

A local beekeeper gave me some seeds to plant some flowers for the bees.  I love the beautiful little packets they came in. 

A lady gave us a sweet potted mum for watching her place while she was away.  I've just today planted it outside in hopes it'll continue to grow. 

With the rain comes lots of sweet water droplets on everything.  Oh the delicious smell after the rain!

Bird on a Wire Birthday

 

Hello!  I have another sweet birdie card to share with you all!  

I love the birds on the wire with the distressing and print behind them.  I added this panel over some patterned paper, a touch of lace ribbon and some lovely soft layers paper flowers.  I added a rhinestone to each.  I added some distressing to add interest to the edges as well.  

This is a card I made for my niece for her birthday.  It's amazing how the years pass, and she has grown up so much!  I pray this card brings a smile to her face, and the knowledge that she is deeply loved!

With Love Birthday

Hello!  Today I have a card I'd like to share with you that I created for a dear young lady.  I found this delightful paper in my stash and made sure that the words hope and truth stood out.  It's been a very hard year for her, and it is my prayer that in the coming year she will find the Truth of God's Word and be saved!  That she will have the hope of eternal salvation through Christ Jesus the Lord!  

So much to look forward to at her age.  It is my prayer that she'll find the peace and comfort of the Lord, and the strength to face each coming day. 

I used some wonderful feathery paper with a honey comb weave in it.  Then I added a sweet sentiment with some lovely blue flowers with the pearls.

Truly Blessed Spot of Tea

Hello!  How was your weekend?  Mine was so lovely!  It was cold and rainy outside and warm and cozy inside.  

My family blessed me with a fun Mother's Day.  My girls made brunch for the family and then they had some delightful gifts for me.  

I received some delightful candles, a new cooler picnic bag (we use ours every week and the old one was coming apart), a certificate for a new haircut, and a brand new cast iron kettle!!!!

How is that for being spoiled?  

I had lots of hugs and snuggles and I know that the Lord has greatly blessed me!  

Of course a new kettle needs to be tried out right?  So that is just what we did. 

We put together a fun afternoon tea.

We pulled out some of our doilies to set the tea goodies on.  You can see that my kitchen table is a bit ~well used~.  It's one of the busiest places in our home. 

We had cheese, crackers, watermelon, peanut butter cookies and brownies.  

I made a pot of earl grey tea, and my boys had some berry herbal tea.  

I pulled out an old metal plate I had stashed away and it's great for holding the teapot so that no drips hit the doilies. 

I pulled out some of our special local honey, it's delicious!  

We also found some lovely pansy napkins that had been stashed away for a special occasion.  

Pansies are my favourite bedding flower. 

The cast iron kettle is by Old Mountain.  It came in a nice box, which I've tucked away to keep.

My husband bought it from a store that a dear friend of mine works at. 

The candles have a fun floral pattern on them.  I have yet to find just the perfect place to display and use them. 

The cooler/picnic basket is a really nice size and I'm looking forward to using it.  I like using a cooler for picnics so that everything stays nice and fresh.  This bag also has a handy dandy flip top so that you can just reach in and get something without opening up the whole thing. 

My children know how much a love getting cards and so my daughter created this one just for me. 

I love that this is one skill that my children value and practice.
