Braided Rug Fail

Hello Friends! Today I'd love to share with you one of my Fails.  I have always wanted to make a braided rug, because I adore them.  But, after many tries of lacing it I finally decided to sew it.  Either way, it didn't turn out like it should.  So my boys now have a homemade hot wheels play station.  It was to be for their room anyway, so I guess it was all good in the end.

Jenn, I've never made a braided rag rug, but I learned to crochet using fabric strips into rugs. My Grandmother and her sister taught me (as a child) to crochet. They lived in a town that had a fabric mill, and they would go to the mill and buy large bags of the end pieces. I don't remember what size hook was used, but using the basic single or half single crochet stitch, they would make oval and rectangle rag rugs. They were always lovely and lasted for years. The rag strips were easier to learn with than yarn or thread. It is one of those fond memories that has always stuck with me and is rekindled every time I see a rag run.
