Framed Wildflowers

Do you love wildflowers? I sure do.  My husband picked this up for me at a garage sale a long time ago.  It is just a poster that was stuck to a piece of cardboard glued to the frame.  I've been wanting to so something with it for a while, but just didn't have the inspiration.  Well inspiration hit this week and so this is what I came up with.

I re-taped the poster to the cardboard and then re-glued it to the frame.  Then I added a couple layers of ribbon along the bottom, and some swatches of material that I pulled out of an old lampshade last summer.  (the lamp shades plastic was coming apart)  I then made some jute bows, some blue lacy ribbon 'leaves' that I added to the flowers and pulled out a metal frame/tag thingy and a metal sentiment and metal butterflies.  Then for the more 'natural' part.  I snagged some pussy willows from a display in my livingroom and tied them together with some ribbon, jute and ribbon.  I of course glued them together and then glued them to the picture (I didn't want to, but I could find no other way that looked ok to  me. ).  So that's it.  I think it's far pretty to look at now as I walk down my stairs. :)
Here are some close up pics of the details. You can click on the pictures to see them bigger to if you want.

You & Me Kitty

Hello Everyone!

I haven't been making many cards lately, but I couldn't pass this one up.  It's a card that I've made for the From the Heart Stamps progressive digi challenge.  This month there is this very sweet kitty as a freebie so that you can start joining in the challenges again, and thus get the freebie to work with the coming month.  If you haven't already, do pop over to the From the Stamps blog and check it out HERE!

For my card I've coloured up this sweet kitty with my pencil crayons and then popped it up over a die cut doily and sweet papers by Dear Lizzy. The card from the Dear Lizzy set and I added the Studio G sentiment (which I added some extra inking to).  Then for a finishing touch I added the pearls.

I'm entering this card in the From the Heart Stamps challenge and sharing with Word Art Wednesday.

Just Some Thoughts

Hi Everyone, for some reason my background and header disappeared.  So, I got the idea into my head to just pick a new template......well....it deleted a bunch of things.  I'll try to get them all back, but it will take me some time.
So for now I've put the old template back on and found this background and header.  What do you think?  Not sure if I'll keep it.  I guess I just made a make work project for myself. :(  I am so not computer literate....hope it doesn't take to much.
Anyhoo, just rambling.  I'm off to bed, I'll have another go at it tomorrow.

He Who Dwells...

Hello! I hope you're having a great day!
Today I have a card that I'd like to share with you that I just made.  Do you ever feel compelled to create a card yet don't know why?  This is one of those.  I started making this, and by the time I was finished the Lord had need of it.  May I always be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading in all things.

I used this gorgeous word art (it came from the Sept. 18th WAW challenge)  Then I layered it over some pretty paper from K& Company.  I added some lace, a flourish and a couple crocheted flowers.

I would like to share this card with Word Art Wednesday this week.

I Made A Blackboard!

Hello Friends! I've been having fun doing lots of things, but most are not yet completed.  One of the things I did over the winter break from our homeschool lessons was to make a chalkboard.  We had a whiteboard that was, well.....not erasing well anymore.  I hate throwing things out, so I thought I'd make a chalkboard with it.  Can you see any of the pictures my kids had made?

I washed the board off really well and after it dried, I put a layer of black acrylic paint on it.  I'm impatient so I used my heat gun to speed things along. :)  Then I mixed more of the black paint with some plaster of paris (Since I had that anyway, I didn't want to go out and by grout.).  Then I gave it two coats of that (using my heat gun to dry it inbetween).  I scrapped off the paint that had gone over with a wet wipe and voila! New blackboard.  I did let it sit overnight before using it though.

Now we can put on daily Bible verses and quotes as well as ...........this. :)  The boys love it!

If you'd like to try this, the recipe I used was 3 parts paint, 2 parts plaster of paris and 1 part water.  Have fun!
Thanks for dropping by! Have a beautiful day!

Happy, Happy, Happy!

Hello Friends! I hope you are enjoying your day.  I have been very busy doing lots of things, but not a lot of crafty things.  Today I have a card to share with you that I've made for the Card Crafter's Circle blog.

The Card Crafter's Circle team is going to be taking  break for a bit.  Not sure how long, and I wanted to share something creative for you.  It's a new year and so many possibilities.  I hope you all have a wonderful crafty year!  I'm going to be slowing down a bit with things....but will still be posting the things that I create here to see.  I'm going to take some time to just create for fun, no commitments.

For my card, I've used this sweet image by From the Heart Stamps (which included the sentiment) called Owls on a Fence.  I used some misc paper from my stash and a bit of Stampin' Up ribbon.  Plus a touch of stickles to the snow...hard to see in the pic.
Have a beautiful day!
