Apron Project in a Canister

Hello Everyone! Today I just have a little something to show you.  I made this gift in a canister for my daughter's birthday today.  I made up a kit for her to sew one of those new fancy aprons with.  It wouldn't fit in a mason jar so I pulled out a canister that I had that was new and awaiting a job.  So now it's her new sewing stash container.  I rolled up the fabric and tucked the other accessories around the edges.  Then I tucked a small container of skittles in the centre of the fabric so she'd have a sweet treat to snack on while she worked. :)  I had all kinds of ideas for the lid, but this seemed to be what stuck...and stuck it is since I hot glued it in place!  I used a doily that I bought at the dollar store and a few of my handmade crochet flowers that I added pearls and leaves to.  Then I picked a piece of lace that she has been eyeing in my craft room and stuck it around the rim of the lid.  It's simple but she loved it and I hope she makes lots of good use out of it!  and the apron since she's wonderful in the kitchen!

Rolled Paper Art Landscape

Hello! Today I have something a bit different to share with you.  It's an art project that I'm going to be leading the older homeschool kids in this coming week. It's called rolled paper art and is akin to quilling (of which I haven't tried my hand at yet)  I decided to do up a tangible demo for the kids to see what they are going to be working towards.  It took me a lot longer than I thought, although I did have many interruptions along the way!  At one point my son said "Mom, stop being crafty and just read to me." So I did.  I have created a landscape in the frame....can you see it?  The water and the mountain, the trees and the sun with it's rays stretching out into the sunset.

I am just so delighted with how it turned out and I'm very eager to see what the kids come up with.  They'll each have a small frame (a bit smaller than mine) and the sky is the limit as to what they want to create.

I took a few different angles of the frame to help also show the 3d effect of the different sizes of the rolls that make up the picture.

Thanks for dropping by! I had a lot of fun creating this....something new and I would love to create more sometime!  Have a beautiful day....and if you have some time on your hands, perhaps you could try paper rolling!

Snowflakes are Falling

Good Morning Friends! How are all of you?  Today I want to share a card with you that I've created for the Card Crafter's Circle Gold challenge.  I've used this sweet snowglobe girl digi designed by Sara Sherlock (who's one of our fabulous designers at CCC).  Sara is putting up the prize for this week and it's quite a treasure!
I've used a pre-cut frame with gold lacing though it, layered it over some glittered sticker paper.  I then added some wonderful snowflake corners and a sentiment by Tina Wenke.

Oh, and I wanted to share a couple of pics of the snowfall that we've seen the last couple of days.   More than we're used to all at once and so this morning school lesson for the girls it to shovel with their Dad! :)  I've been frustrated with some lung issues lately, but I am glad that it prevents me from having to be out shovelling! :)

I have also made a card using Sara's Say Oui image and some papers by mind's eye and a scrap of gold with some homemade bakers twine.

So now for you! We'd love to see your gold creations! Just pop over to the Card Crafter's Circle to join in and see the wonderful inspiration from the design team!

I used some fun papers by Recollections and a metal clip and rhinestone.  I used my spectrum noirs to colour her dress and tried to do a bit of shading....I need lots of practice! She's just so cute and the sentiment is from my stash.
Have a wonderful day and we'd love for you to share your celebrations cards with us at the Card Crafter's Circle!

Bag-a-lope For You

Hi Friends! I have this cute little gift bag to share with you.  A sweet friend of mine Vicki from Stamped Smiles just posted a tutorial on how to make a gift bag from an envelope and I just had to try it out.  I needed one quickly so I thought now would be the time! So mine is very simple. I used a pre-coloured tag that I had printed out in my stash.  I can't remember where it was from, so if you know please let me know so I can give them credit. Thanks.  Then I stamped the sentiment on it, matted it and stuck it on. :)  I looked though my ribbon and couldn't find what I wanted, so I used a piece of crocheted ribbon instead that I stapled on to the sides.  It was very quick and simple and I'm sure I'll be doing more in the future! Have a great day and do pop by Vicki's to check out her incredible talent!

Cozy Winter Racoon

Hello Friends! Today I have a frosty card to share with you that I've created for the new challenge over at the Card Crafter's Circle - Thankful - Thank You.
I am so thankful for warm scarves, hats and mittens when the snow is falling and the temperatures plunge.  It snowed a bunch here today and that means more time out in the snow, shovelling and just trampling it down in our yard! :)

For my card I used this adorable Cozy Winter Racoon from MelJen's Designs and coloured him with pencil crayons and my new Spectrum Noir markers.  I also coloured some of the snowflakes and added some stickles to them and his nose.  The sentiment is a sticker that I added to white card stock and then matted with the card base colour.  Oh, and I added a decorative edge with some scissors. The background snowflake paper was a freebie online. (if any of you know who by, please feel free to refresh my memory!)
I hope you all are staying warm this winter! and perhaps enjoying some time in the snow, or just watching it fall from the warm side of the glass. :)

I also have a couple of pics to share of the hats that my older daughter and I made this past week.

Renewing of Your Mind

Hi Friends,  today I have a project that I wanted to share with you.  I found this frame at the local recycling free store and added some simple embellishments.  Then I added this scripture that I got from Karen at Papercraft Memories.  It's not a Bible version I use, but the meaning isn't altered at all.  All around us the world is calling us to embrace it's values and interests.  As a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ one needs to seek to become more like Christ and less like the world.  In that way we can know God's will for our lives.  To become like Christ Jesus is the most important thing anyone can do after they are saved.  It is a renewing of the mind....something I'm learning each day.  It's a process of growing in your faith, and putting into practice what is being learned from time spent in God's Word.  I am so thankful that I am able to have God's Word for myself and am able to read any time for as long as I want.  God is so good!  I often think of this hymn when I read this verse.  The hymn is

Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus | Helen H. Lemmel

    • Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Have a beautiful day!

Birthday Mice

Hello! today I have a card to share with you that I've created for the month freebie challenge at the From the Heart Stamps blog.  I just adore Faiths art and this image is so sweet!
I've coloured this image up with markers and pencil crayons with a touch of glitter.  I made the mice three different colours because our friends don't all look alike and neither to mice.  We get families of voles in our yard each year and they are all different colours.
I've added a couple button tags and used some sweet paper by DCWV.
Thank you so much for dropping by and do go check out this amazing challenge at From the Heart Stamps!

Falling Softly

Hello Friends! I have a card to share with you today that I've created for the Card Crafter's Circle Tread Lightly - Pastel Colours.  Do come to the Card Crafter's Circle and see the wonderful creations from the team!
It's been snowing quite a bit here where I live and I just love it when the flakes slowly drift down.  Today I've used this sweet image Alannah by our wonderfully talented sponsor Kathryne at Stamp Art Design by Kathryne.    I fussy cut it out and added to this winterland scene that I added faux pearl snow and a corner snow flourish to (plus a crocheted flower).  So it's simple and I've left the sentiment off so I can use it for whatever occasion presents itself.
I hope you're all having a great day!

Count Only the Sunny Hours

Welcome everyone to my blog, so glad that you dropped by!  Today I have a couple of cards to share with you for the challenge at the Card Crafter's Circle - Anniversary.
I created this card with my husband in mind, we celebrate the anniversary of our engagement each year (it's on Feb. 11th....so before the "Love" holiday)  So I used these two images from our sponsor Floppy Latte called Heart Branch and Love Note that seemed more suitable for that time of year.

With some lacy ribbon and some sweet papers from Dear Lizzy and a sentiment from Studio G it's quite simple.  But that's how he likes things.

I decided to make another card with one of the Floppy Latte image called Love Dove as well, just because I saw the image and creativity struck! LOL  So a little softer and a bit more girly.  On the image it says to only count the sunny hours....how often we focus on the clouds and rain.  As I look back on my marriage, I can see so many times that the sun shone brightly through the clouds and I can see how very blessed I am by my dear husband.  God knew just the man for me!

I'm sharing this second card with Word Art Wednesday.
Thank you so much for stopping by to see me! Do pop over to the Card Crafter's Circle blog and see the wonderful inspiration there!

Happy Anniversary From the Air!

Hello Friends! Today I have a couple of cards to share with you that I've created for my parents.  Well the first got sent and the second is just tucked away.  It's their 40th anniversary soon and my brothers and I wanted to give them something special.  They'll be going on a hot air balloon ride hence the balloon and the tickets.  The second is a bit more girly so I thought it wouldn't be appropriate from my brothers and I.  So perhaps they'll get it at a later date. :)
Thank you so much for dropping by! Have a beautiful day!

Harvest Medley

Hello Friends! Today I have a card that I've created with the wonderful image called Harvest Medley from From The Heart Stamps freebie challenge.  I'm so glad that it's a month long challenge since it's taken me so long to get it put on a card.  I've coloured it up with my pencil crayons and layered it over some great My Mind's Eye papers.  I added some burlap and cream grosgrain ribbon and bronze pearls.

I know that some days I get discouraged when I don't see results from things I've hoped for....but God is in control and someday I'll see the big picture and go Aha! That's what the purpose and timing was for!

It's the Little Things

It's the little things that sometimes mean the most!  Whenever I've been feeling discouraged, I count my blessings.  It's amazing how many little things in my life are so important and I thank the Lord Jesus for them!
