How was your week?
How was your week?
This week with me it's been nice and varied.
I finished up a pair of socks for my daughter. I loved the self-striping yarn
and they came together easily.
She really enjoys them and said they're good for walking.
I made some butter since the store was out if it.
I love that there is the option of making your own when that happens.
I used two litres of cream this time so I have lots of butter to use.
The buttermilk is great in so many things, and even in tea!
I started making another baby blanket this week to.
I chose these three colours: Flannel, Fern, & Teal.
I'm using a chevron pattern and will post it once I am finished.
My kids and I went for a cool walk around a little lake by our place.
The ice was thick enough for us to walk around the edges and we found
lots of interesting things to see and explore.
We had fun sliding along on the ice...we don't have snow on the lake yet
so it's all shiny and slippery.
We found puffball mushrooms...yes we stepped on them.
Just doing our part to help them propagate. :)
We have been learning about habitats and how the forest is full of these
incredible relationships between plants and fungi.
Isn't it just astounding how God created everything with such attention to detail!
It leaves me in awe at how He created everything to work together in just
the right ways so it all flourishes.
There was a section of another lake that had thinner ice and you could see the
freshwater prawns flourishing.
There were also areas of bubbles and pressure ridges where we could see
the water boatmen bugs coming up for air.
There was a tiny wasp nest and some frozen squirrel footprints in the ice that we saw.
There were scores of dead trees from where the water had flooded the forest.
It was interesting to see how time and the creatures had changed things.
In many of the trees you could see the holes from the wood peckers that live around here.
Many a day you'll hear them out there in the trees.
Peck Peck Peck
I found it interesting how the bark was peeling off the trees to.
Then of course one needs a good cup of tea to help relax and warm up.
Thank you so much for dropping by!
Love and Prayers,
